Today marks a special launch! To celebrate the Málaga Film Festival, which holds its 29th edition in 2026, we’re inaugurating our blog with recommendations on tourism in Málaga and its surroundings. We’re starting by walking the red carpet that, during these March days, fills the city center with cinema, culture, and a vibrant atmosphere.

Each year, the festival brings together numerous films, documentaries, and audiovisual productions, organized into different sections that showcase the best of Spanish-language cinema. One of the most anticipated moments is undoubtedly the awards ceremony for its most prestigious accolades, the Biznagas, among which the Golden Biznaga stands out, recognizing the best film in the competition. Additionally, the festival includes retrospectives, meetings with filmmakers, and multiple activities that transform Málaga into a true hub for the film industry.
Since its inception in 1998, the Málaga Festival has established itself as one of the nerve centers of Spanish-language cinema. Throughout its editions, numerous film personalities, including acclaimed Málaga-born actor Antonio Banderas, have graced the iconic red carpet on Calle Larios, as well as the halls of the Cervantes Theater, the festival’s main venue, and the historic Albéniz Cinema, where many of the participating films are screened.

Over time, the festival has also evolved in its identity. Originally known as the Málaga Festival of Spanish Cinema, it expanded its focus to encompass all Spanish-language film production, adopting its current name, Málaga Spanish Film Festival, thus reflecting its international vocation and its connection with the Spanish-speaking film community.
During these days, all of Málaga transforms: the streets fill with visitors, the cultural atmosphere multiplies, and cinema takes center stage in every corner of the historic center.

At WIN TO WIN RENTALS, we support and celebrate all events that connect Málaga with its culture, creativity, and international projection. The Málaga Festival is, without a doubt, one of the most special times of the year to enjoy the city. Don’t miss it!
